MARQUETTE, Mich– Tuesday, February 27th, a top of the table clash between two teams took place, with both looking to secure their spot and momentum to win the title in the 2018 Men’s Intramural Class B championship . The ‘Rolling Ankles’ took on the ‘Dame of Thrones’. Heading into the game both teams were 4-0 and looking to keep the winning streak alive.

The game was played in two 20 minute halves. The beginning of the first half started, and the ‘Dame of Thrones’ came out with heat, hitting several 3 pointers in succession and having a comfortable lead for the first 10 minutes. However ‘Rolling Ankles’ managed to close the deficit to just one point, and at the end of the first half the score was 28-29 with ‘Dame of Thrones’ just holding on. The second half was even more of a display, as both teams were successfully scoring points at each end however the shift of power had turned as with 5 minutes left ‘Rolling Ankles’ secured a 10 point lead.

With just minutes left on the clock, pressure was getting to both teams as there was a series of misses for each team. “Dame of Thrones’ managed to pull themselves out, taking advantage of Rolling’s lack of consistency to bring the score level at 65-65 with just 1 minute on the clock. However this resurgence wasn’t enough for Thrones, as Rolling ankles did just enough to secure the W and their winning record with a final score of 68-67.

I spoke to the captain of the winning team, Caleb Myers after the game. He believed that Michael Graves was the teams MVP, graves managed to score 16 pts which helped push Rolling Ankles to victory. When asked why he believed the team have been performing so well, Myers responded “Every guy is showing up and playing, our defense works hard and we know how to utilize our attack”.
